Two Cheney shooting bits before bed
On the Daily Show last night, John Stewart made the observation (paraphrase,)
"How powerful do you have to be to shoot a man in the face and have him apologize for causing you difficulty?"
Second, HUGE disclaimer on this one. The site on which this is published seems to have a habit of printing the worst of unsubstantiated rumor. Treat it like the National Enquirer, and read it not for the facts, but for the entertainment value,
Because if you're here, you so want this to be true.

And, like the worst of unsubstantiated rumors at the National Enquirer, they always turn out to be true.

I don't know about that. Capitol Hill Blue has had a couple of "sensational" stories I've bitten on that didn't pan out.
But oh, isn't it juicy? Wouldn't we all love to know the Secret Service guys opinions of that day.

Stewart's had a field day. As to being drunk, I'm guessing 'yes' along with everyone else. If he HADN'T been drinking he would have wanted that made clear by having the cops do a breathalyzer test immediately.

Yeah, the alcohol seems to be a common assumption at this point.
One of the reasons this caught me is because there were a whole lot of "little people" on that ranch, the hunting sherpas, the secret service, the staff that ran the ranch and the house , and not one of those people has talked to the press.
I'm surprised and waiting.

If this is true, and Cheney was drinking, how unfair to the millions of Americans who get arrested for drunk driving, lose their jobs because of drinking, or end up in jail because of drinking related crimes. What good are laws if they're applied unevenly based on their status?
And why do people aid and abet people like Cheney? Do they really think the system would let them off if the situation were reversed? No way.

I think they aid Cheney because the support "the cause." Also, they will be payed off in some fashion or favor down the road. You don't forget those who cover for you. See Bush's ANG and the lottery contract, or Giuliani and Kerik.
And, yeah, the rich and powerful are treated differently.
