Picture of the Day - 2

Mike's "man crush" continues.

I know it's the result of a repositioning effort by Gore and his people as they look at possibly running Gore in 2008, but I'm really starting to feel a positive sense of momentum for this guy.

I was quite heartened when I saw this Dick Morris piece in The Hill talking about a possible Gore candidacy in 2008.

Possible slogan: Re-elect Al Gore.

I won't go into all the whys I like him as a candidate right now, I just wanted to talk about the object of my current man-crush.

(Note: last time I had a picture of Gore up, every commenter told me to take a look at Feingold. I've been watching him since and would heartily support a Feingold candidacy as well. Smart. Fearless. No dilly-dallying or halfway positions. That's what I want to see in 2008 and that's what I'll probably support.)

  • I will never forget the horrible sense of dread I had when Bush stole the election away from Gore. Little did I know that the ugly reality would be orders of magnitude worse than I could ever have imagined at the time.

I'm with you - we need someone smart and fearless. I love the slogan Re-elect Gore!!!

  • Al. Russ. Either one is fine with me.

Just don't let it be Hillary. Please. God. No.

  • He's a little less boring than he used to be, maybe that's because I'm now comparing him to Kerry, and he's no longer talking in that weird simplistic voice he used to use where he sounded like he was talking to a six year old.

His run would also make the whole thing a referendum on Bush's presidency because the questionable circumstances of 2000 would be brought up over and over and would force a where would we be now with president Gore.

I also always kind of get a Clark Kent flash off Gore.

And, yeah, Feingold would be great too if he threw his hat in.

  • I'm with quakerdave-anybody but Hillary.Or whoever the neocons dig up.
Gore gave a speech not too long ago that outlined the problems with the Bush administration with out once pointing his finger at the theft of the election. This takes a big man.
In 2000, after twenty years of voting for independents and Libertarians, and accepting my candidate would never win, I voted for a major party candidate for the first time. He won, but was denied his position in the White House by the most incompetent president we've ever seen. And perhaps that's where a lot of my anger comes from, because I know the country would have been better off had he been allowed to take his rightful place in the Oval Office.

  • What the heck. Lets just hope for a Gore/Feingold ticket.

Those two are also at the top of my list.

  • Go Al! Hillary, just stay in NY. Thinking Dems don't want you to run for President.

  • I'm in for the Gore/Feingold ticket!

The best thing about Gore at the top of the ticket is that he would be a constant reminder of what the last 8 years could have been!

  • Me, too. The more I think about it, the more I like Gore/Feingold.

  • My only nagging question is, why couldn't he beat Clueless George the FIRST time he had the chance? Will he dump the DLC campaign-types next time?

    Gore/Feingold? Got my vote.

I'd also love a ticket with Rep. John Lewis as VP. He's my political hero.
