Someone should tell Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal that his calls for smaller government are being heeded, and his state is on its own for spill cleanup.
But seriously, folks. Maybe the more subtle approach of raising the visibility of the effectiveness of federal government involvement in BIG issues will have a bigger impact on the average Joe.
Sometimes the best antedate to power of extremism is to make them look like fools.
As a corollary, this is why I'm such an advocate for treating "terrorists" as "criminals" and using the civilian courts. It undermines -- rather then reinforces -- the terrorist organizations status as some sort of global superpower.
This is not the America I was brought up to believe in.

Yeah, that's the Obama administration's hope, that competent government will work to assuage that right wing fear spreading to the middle.
