I know it's not really too much of a surprise, but US officials are "leaking" that the Pakistani ISI has released senior Taleban members.

It looks like realism to me. The US is looking for a 'win'. The Pakistanis know they have to deal with these people.

Who knows. Probably an attempt to separate the good ISI from the bad ISI.

Maybe. I'm thinking it might have soimething to do with Karzai. Not exactly sure how, but he could be a pivot.
