Cognitive Dissonance for the Day
We shouldn't allow government run healthcare because private companies are so much more efficient than government services.
We shouldn't allow a public option because private companies wouldn't be able to compete with government run healthcare.

greed has killed the republic...i wonder if the young generation (progressives) think of ever "healthcare" dodge...you know like the draft dodging from vietnam era...i can't say I haven't thought of talking to my young-uns abt it if we keep on this path of thinking the "common good" is a four-letter word...I know if I were 19 and starting college right now I would be waiting on the next 2 years and then decide to stay-or-go (Joe Strummer citation good for 10 points!)
I mean go to Canada, eek-by on a menial job for a few months and claim citizenship...or whatever the law is...hell - even defect and turn in your visa...
"I will renounce my citizenship at noon tomorrow..." -- spoken in the creepy and sweaty tone of Milhouse...

It all depends on what sort of job you can get there or Britain or France. If you get a spot with a major corporation here at anything beyond clerk/floorwalker, you get pretty good healthcare.
(And Clash references always earn points.)

i may get pretty decent healthcare if i land a decent job - but still stand by and see my sister/brother/peers just one medical issue from bankruptcy...the "i got mine" complex has to be kicked in the balls once and for all.

I get you, but in an "I got mine" system, what else do you do?
I'm pro-single payer, but that's not where we are right now.
