Gov. Sanford
The press conference is about to start. I'll start updating on this post.
Update: He's tearing up and apologizing to his family. How bad is it going to be?
Answer: Long term relationship with a woman in Argentina.
Wife knew about the affair for "about 5 months." (And he took a trip to Argentina to see the woman?)
Question: Did he ever say he cut off the relationship?
Thought: Any press conference that ends with someone shouting, "Are you going to resign as Governor?" is not a good moment.
Flashback to yesterday,
Later: Those statements from Ms. Sanford had a really deep subtext. She releases a statement saying that she had forced a "trial separation" and that Sanford hasn't been at home or in contact for two weeks.
Last: Now we get a few emails between Sanford and Maria. Apparently The State got them in December and have been trying to develop the story since.

Flashback to yesterday,
Initially, Ms. Sanford said her husband had told her he needed to get away from their children to "write something."
Addressing reporters who had gathered outside the couple's beach home on Sullivan's Island on Tuesday, Ms. Sanford said, "I am being a mom today. I have not heard from my husband. I am taking care of my children."

And here I was giving him the benefit of the doubt, with regard to this sort of thing.... I feel stupid. But a mistress from Argentina!? Weird.
Ensign, Vitter, Craig, Sandford, Gingrich... all these frickin' holier-than-thou a-holes. Sure, we've got Spitzer, Edwards, and the Big Dog himself, but it's the utter hypocrisy of the Republicans and their utterly hollow, fraudulent "family values."

Were state funds used in any part to pay for this? (meals, travel expense, etc).

I also think it has to do with the scale of the sex stuff. Ensign's was with a longtime staffer. Ugly but understandable.
On the other end, you've got Spitzer with all the weirdo details and the woman talking, and all the luridness of Larry Craig's thing.
This is 2/3 of the way across because of the Argentina/secret trip aspect and the fact thatthis appears to have been a competing relationship to his marriage.
(And never leave Mark Foley off your list. Yeah, his sins were a little different, but they went off the meter in the details.)

As for state funds, I thought he answered that in one of the points where many questions were being shouted. I thought he said no, he paid for the trip.

The Republicans should just open a whore house for it's members. They will have to have a few male whores for guys like Craig.

It's all that gay marriage. It's destroying the sanctity of their marriages....
They warned us....
