That Ambien sleepwalking thing takes on a whole new meaning...

According to data from a U. S. Army mental-health survey released last year, about 12 percent of soldiers in Iraq and 15 percent of those in Afghanistan reported taking antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, or sleeping pills.....

In other words, thousands of American fighters armed with the latest killing technology are taking prescription drugs that the Federal Aviation Administration considers too dangerous for commercial pilots.

  • After last week when one of our own killed 5 of our own, where is the outrage and concern for the mental problems our soldiers are experiencing due to being a killing machine?

  • That's always so hard to say. Some come through without much damage, Others are completely ripped apart.

    I'm always hesitant to blanket the soldiers either way.

    (And, frankly, I haven't kept up with the circumstances/reports on the soldier that killed 5. My general rule is to get outraged at premeditated criminal acts, like the guys who raped and torched that family or programmatic policies of torture, but I tend to cut a very wide berth on anything that looks like someone snapping, whether it's this case or the multiple cases of egregious or extreme excessive force.

    In war, planned things are very different than unplanned things. You know?)
