The 9/11 trauma defense.

A sorta interesting editorial by Richard Clarke.

  • Well, I think it succinctly covers the history: Cheney, et al, -- steeped in authoritarian neo-con kool aide -- violently and ineffectually over compensate for getting caught with their pants down on 9/11.

It must be stated ad nauseam, that 9/11 occurred well into Bush's watch. And that they were actively disinterested in anything the terror professionals had to say.

  • I should add that I'm not so sure of the 2004 reelection motivation Clarke puts forward, but I do think they were aware of the "legacy issues." Of being accused of being asleep at the switch.

But the press seems to have let them off.

  • The press has a tendency to back off when the targets of actual reporting become too shrill. That's how the GOP has managed damage control... through loader and more relentless attacks on the messenger. No matter the speciousness of their arguments, the vigor and unyieldingness of their arguments sees to cow the media into accepting their views. (see Sotomayor, see the DHS right-wing extremist report.).
