From an interesting reader comment at TPM,

Cheney could not have been Cheney if Bush had not been Bush.

Has there ever been a time in modern history -- say the past 100 yrs -- when an outgoing administration so publicly and aggressively worked to undermine an incoming administration?

I wonder what it was like for FDR in 1933?... That was kind of a similar situation.

I don't think it was like this because the opposition didn't have so many readily available national platforms, and politics was still run largely by local meeting.

I'm sure similar stuff was said, even worse, but it was not said on 200 AM radio stations or FoxNews.
