Dear Mark Penn, just because you say it, doesn't mean it's true.

Funny thing. All the polling in Pennsylvania says Mark Penn's "big state" declarations today are garbage.

I love it when someone else does the work to prove my points.

  • What's scary about those polls is how competitive McCain is in PA... against either Dem.

  • I don't know Pa well enough to be shocked. My memory is that it's tight in the general.

  • PS. A theory that came out in a comment response a couple down.

Electability is the only argument the Clinton camp has right now, and, even if it's not effective on the supers in July/August, they also need an argument to justify right now.

I'm not saying the supers are ready to call it today, but it would only take 20 or 30 in a little burst to effectively even them on supers and change the dynamic of this race.

Writing this, I realize I may have been interpreting alot of this wrong. It may be as much about staying alive as winning.

Hmmm... Have to think about that.

  • My recollection is that in the last two elections, the mantra was that you had to win two of the three large battleground states (Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania), and Pennsylvania was the one that Democrats won. So if we lose PA we probably lose the other two, and we have to win big time in the upper midwest and west. Supposedly Obama can do that, but I'm skeptical.
