Black RNC chair means more overt racism

I think Todd predicted this.
Just ran into new RNC Chairman Michael Steele who watched President Obama's town hall in Indiana and wasn't impressed.

The Obama-backed stimulus, he said, "is just a wish list from a lot of people who have been on the sidelines for years.. to get a little bling, bling."

Because the only people for the stimulus are "bling bling-ers" looking for "taxpayers" money.

  • It's hard for me to make an objective observation, but are these screeching GOPers with their extreme and bizarre language ("porkulus", "generational theft"!?) really beginning to look small... looney and disconnected?

It's getting crazy and I wonder if their crazy-eyed rants are scaring more people than they're winning over.

  • I don't think they come across as scary. More as out of touch or out of tone.

  • to me, Republicans are the ones who confuse the United States with capitalism.

  • Good point.

  • There's good and bad news in this situation.

The bad news is that the 28%-er Republicans are being portrayed by the media as the sole opposition to the stimulus package and the sole salvation from Obama.

The good news is that these same people are incapable of making coherent and credible arguments or presenting reasonable alternatives that the media can run with.

Huge numbers, including many in the Republican "base", are losing their jobs, homes, and futures. Even the most obtuse and ignorant realise that "something needs to be done", and the Republican plan is to do nothing.

  • Yeah, despite the media coverage, it's my impression that the Republicans are losing on points in this debate.

The counter argument would be that they're losing without any real cost. So long as a plan passes, I don't think any of this sticks to them, so it's kind of a free chance to claim their "fiscally responsible." (Yeah, I know. But that's what they're trying to do.)
