Picture of the Day - 4

The RNC has spent $150,000 on the Palin family wardrobe since she was picked.

It's a good thing people aren't hurting out there.

(PS. Would that be $150,000 worth of lipstick on a pig?)

  • OMG, is that the "Thriller" jacket??

  • You don't have to link the Thriller jacket.

  • Ok ok, that might be obvious enough. But I thought this was pure gold.

  • Now I really think the name "Bible Spice" is an apt one.

  • No, Jeff, you were the first to point out the similarity, and I laughed.

My point was, being a teenager in the late 80's you don't have to remind me what the thriller jacket looked like. It's a cultural icon from my childhood.

    .....

    And, Todd, Nieman Marcus, Saks....

Not exactly Wal-mart and soccer moms..

  • The hypocrisy -- or better yet the intellectual dissonance, or contradiction -- of the GOP (and particularly it's base) is shocking. They claim sexual virtue, yet celebrate the sensual prude. They claim to be frugal, yet take pride in the well draped, haute couture of their women. They claim to be pro family, yet oppose government programs that actually help families. They love government give-aways to corporations, but tax breaks for the lower classes is "socialism." Most claim the Prince of Peace as their Lord, yet the are the most vociferous hawks. (And don't get me started with the 2nd Amendment fetish!)

On and on, it is a party of mind numbing contradictions.

  • Oh, and are the Palin's required to claim this $150,000 as income or in-kind gifts? Is it taxable, in other words?

  • They spokesman, very annoyed that the story broke, said that the plan was "always" to give the clothes to charity after the election.

So, expect to see some very haute homeless in Wasilla.

  • Riiiiight. Because you know when I think "Republican" I think charitable giving. It's like a punchline in an SNL sketch. Think about the visual here.

  • Yeah.
