McCain commits the sin.
Have you ever known any candidate who cited "Dewey defeats Truman" who then went on to win? Anyone? Ever?
It's nearly the last signpost towards losingtown.

The really stupid thing about story is that the "Inauguration Speech" in question was written a year ago by a staffer to illustrate how Obama's Administration would approach the Presidency.
So it's not the sign of arrogance and overconfidence that McCain is portraying it as.
And in this electronic age of instant communication, exit polling, and thorough scientific pre-election polling, a "Dewey defeats Truman" moment is virtually impossible.
This much more of a "Clinton defeats Dole" kind of election.

I didn't know about the year old inauguration speech.
And "Dewey defeats Truman" is always the last stop on the disregarding the polls tour. Nobody ever believes it when they say it.

I didn't know about the year old inauguration speech.
I heard it on NPR early this morning. Obama wasn't even the nominee when it was written.

Also I don't think "he's counting his chickens" is gonna work.
