Look, nobody wants to hear your whining.....
Check out this McCain campaign memo sent out today.
Really? I know they want to try to "lightweight" Obama, but is this tack really supposed to work?
Then, of course, there's the very bizarre tactic of repeating attacks that have been irrefutably debunked, not just the Landstuhl visit, but also these as well as some others.
Can you hear the media rolling their eyes?
(Later: Here's McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt trying to make the "celebrity argument" on the conference call this morning.)
Later Still: Seriously, this is the best they've got?
The McCain campaign is a complete freaking disaster.
Barack Obama is the biggest celebrity in the world, comparable to Tom Cruise, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.....
Only a celebrity of Barack Obama's magnitude could attract 200,000 fans in Berlin who gathered for the mere opportunity to be in his presence. These are not supporters or even voters, but fans fawning over The One. Only celebrities like Barack Obama go to the gym three times a day, demand "MET-RX chocolate roasted-peanut protein bars and bottles of a hard-to-find organic brew -- Black Forest Berry Honest Tea" and worry about the price of arugula.

"This is a typically superfluous response from Barack Obama. Like most celebrities, he reacts to fair criticism with a mix of fussiness and hysteria," says McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds.
The McCain campaign is a complete freaking disaster.

"Barack Obama is a celebrity in the world, comparable to Neslon Mandela, the Dali Lama or maybe even Gandhi...
Only a celebrity of Barack Obama's magnitude could attract 200,000 hopeful people yearning for a positive vision coming from an American politician. These are not supporters or even voters, but desperately hopeful American allies listening to the one they believe can once again make America a shining example to the world.
And on top of that, the man takes care of his health. He thinks he's better than everybody with his "exercise" and "healthy food." Pussy. He even cares about the prices American farmers can get for their crops, like arugula. What an egghead!
Who the frick wants a man like that in the White House! Goddamit! American deserve a piss off, international-hatin', technological illiterate with seven decades under his belt, skin cancer and no plans for the future but "Stay the Course"!"
Yeah. That's the ticket.
What a pathetic little man. Scares the shit out of me to think of McCain in the White House. Holy shit.

Hey, this is off subject somewhat, but I thought you would be interested. I read an independent blog which has a very libertarian slant to it. You mostly get right-wing readers as you might expect. He does a question of the week and this week the question was as to whether or not the major parties' choice for VP would affect their vote. Here are a couple of responses....
As one can discern by reading my blog, I won't be voting for Obama.
Whether or not I vote for McCain will hinge on his running mate. Normally, I don't pay a lot of attention to the VP choice, but this time I am because McCain is a RINO (Republican In Name Only).
To be perfectly honest, I don't even think I'll bother wasting my time in the elections this year. It really doesn't matter because the candidate is probably already chosen.
Obviously just anecdotal, but do you think the same things are going through Obama supporters' minds? I would say just the opposite.

EPM, I'm waiting for someone to call McCain "sad." A man of such honor who started with such noble intentions has allowed his campaign to sell his soul......
.....
Praguetwin, Everyone always talks about the VP's making a difference, but in the end, in our two party system with no other alternatives, generally the VP stuff doesn't matter. The only effect is really a negative effect if they pick someone who is later found to be crooked or is highly disliked or whatever.
Vice President's rarely ever win votes, but they'll occasionally lose some.
And, to the broader point, Republicans and Democrats will still show up and vote for their parties' nominee. You might see some staying at home on the GOP side, but on the Dem side I really don't see too much. You may get some small segments, but largely, the Dems would come out and vote for almost anybody this year, even without the Obama magnetism or motivation.
They have the additional fire of 8 years of Bush, and they're gonna go alot further to vote.
