Hillary Clinton has lost this race even though she consistently led by 10-20 points among the Democratic party's largest demographic, white women.

If Obama holds on to his base, and if Hillary can shepherd her supporters to rally for Obama in November, I think we really could see an historic sea-change in American governance... But that's a couple of big "ifs".

I don't think either is that big of an if. There maybe some questions of slightly lower turnout among women.
No matter the footstomping right now, Democratic women are not going to vote for the Republican party whose platform still says no abortion even in rape or incest and allow them to appoint judges
There may be a slightly lower turnout, but . I just don't believe a mass defection will happen.
