Political bits
Primaries tonight. Kentucky and Oregon have about the same number of delegates. Kentucky looks like an early call for Clinton and Oregon is going to be ungodly late.
(QCTimes) Iowa Dem Party Chairman to endorse Obama ahead of Obama's appearance there tonight.
(TheHill) From the Dept. of Duh, "House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) is backing off his bold prediction that Republicans will gain seats this November...."
(Politico) GOP questions Boehner's leadership.
Howard Kurtz has an interesting column on the McCain campaign's media response. (Rapid and attacking.)
(NYTimes) House Conservatives to Offer Ideas for G.O.P. Message. (Boy, those ideas don't seem to fit the current mood at all.)
And, (Politico) The GOP doesn't have a single viable minority candidate for 2008.

Does the McCain campaign's attacks on the press for publishing unflattering, less than fawning reports run the risk of backfiring? I seems that McCain is where he is in large part because of a lap-dog press.
It will be interesting to see how the corporate media moves forward into the general election. Will they be cowed -- again -- by whining and spitting Republicans? Or will they grow a pair now that the national mood has turned against both the GOP and the press?
Also, I think the Obama campaign will be aggressive as well when it feels the corporate media are giving McCain a pass.

I was wondering about that, too, because the McCain counters are past the normal civility. They're very hostile, and after being attacked a time or two, I would think the reporters would want to rebel (or would they self censor?)
My hunch is that the McCain coverage will be uneven. They'll cede him the national security ground, but will likely portray him more negatively as out of step on everything else.
One element to watch is the late night shows. Their jokes do affect the coverage now, too.
