Quote of the Day

As all the crap falls down about Elliot Spitzer being "caught on a federal wiretap arranging to meet with a high-priced prostitute at a Washington hotel," a reporter on the Clinton plane was overheard to say.
"There goes another superdelegate."

  • Ouch.

Now this sort of thing could be used in a dirty political way. It reminds people of the good ol' days when Bill had his similar wick-dipping problems...

And I hope we DON'T see this type of politics, nor do I think we'll see this from Obama.

  • Slight clarification. My "ouch" comment was referring to the "there goes another superdelegate" statement.

My first reaction upon hear the news about Spitzer was, "what the HELL was he thinking!?" These political types really must develop some sort of oxygen deprivation from all that thin air they breath up their on their self-created pedestals.

  • I was shcoked that the first reports included "involved" in a prostitution ring.

That sounds like he was running it or something.

  • Seems like it's always the judgmental ones who are outed by their own questionable behavior. I'm losing track of who's pinching interns, soliciting sex in washrooms, buying the favors of expensive callgirls, and selling influence in Congress.

Of all of the above misbehavior, I'm the most torqued by jerks trying to subvert the normal and aboveboard workings of Congress, since it affects more of us.

Prostitution? I place that as an issue between husband and wife.

  • Ok, why was he picked up on a Federal wiretap? Is he being prosecuted for anything?

If not then it's obviously a gross misuse of power.

  • TIA?

  • just a run-of-the-mill FBI honey pot. J. Edgar Hoover himself used these to amass a building full of blackmail...

  • Anon, that's the way it should be. I don't care if sombody's poking an aide, BUT if they put themselves up as judge of others behavior either in a religious or legal framework, they deserve the exposure.

    .....

Matt, the sting was against the prostitution service and Spitzer was just dumb enough to use a prostitution service.

He's included because he was one of the ones dumb enough to leave such a clear trail of evidence.

    ...

Anon 2, I don't know. I don't think so. I think this was just a famous person putting themselves where they shouldn't be.
