I'm sure Obama's speech resonated something wicked in the African-American community. I know that I felt that I was listening to history, where the zeitgeist of the African-American experience was for once not being treated as a cultural curiosity, but as part of the very mainstream, very American experience. Legitimizing it, in a way validating it.
