Picture of the Day - 3
A little love for John Edwards because 1) He is by far (and by necessity) the hardest working candidate on the trail, and 2) He has successfully put to bed any suggestions that he's going to quit.
Fight on, brother.

This year, as in 2004, I'll go into the primary voting booth torn between two candidates. I'll stare at the names for a 45 secons or so -- which will feel like half an hour -- moving my Sharpie marker back and forth, hovering momentarily over each name. Then I'll force myself to fill in the empty oval next to one of the names, draw open the red, white and blue curtain and insert my ballot into the massive optical scanner.
As if the fate of the nation hung upon my single vote, I'll hope I made the right choice, but I'll also be relieved that my part is over. For now.
This is how seriously most of us in this silly little state take our role in the primary process. We may not be a demographic microcosm of the entire US, but we take our responsibilities as citizens very seriously.

Enjoy the process.
I love going to vote. There's this wonderful sense of civics and community. Seeing all my neighbors....
And, be really nice to the volunteers. They spend a long day.

I did my duty, as did my three adult children and daughter-in-law.
I don't know how my daughter-in-law voted. I didn't ask; she didn't tell. I don't feel comfortable asking people I know how they voted. The rest of us tallied up this way:
3-Obama
1-Kucinich
1-Richardson
Meanwhile my two minor kids are getting a good education on politics and the electoral process. I'm happy with all the questions my 15-year-old has. She'll be a voter in the next presidential cycle! Yikes, I'm getting old!
