Christmas albums/Christmas songs

For me, it's never really Christmas until I hear a few select songs. James Brown's "Soulful Christmas" and "Santa Claus, Come Straight to the Ghetto." Elvis Presley's "Blue Christmas" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," and The Charlie Brown/Vince Guaraldi "O Tannenbaum" and "Christmas Time is Here."

I don't know why, but that's my flavor of Christmas.

  • Vince Guaraldi's Charlie Brown Christmas album is my favorite holiday album, and his "O Tannenbaum" is, in my opinion, the definitive version.

Though technically not a Christmas album, George Winston's "December" is high on the music rotation around here. Also getting a lot of play time as is the music from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation... The album has been out of production for years, but I've managed to cobble together most of the songs, save Mavis Staples title track. I just love that kitschy, quirky, cool stuff from John Hughes movies.
