Picture of the Day - 2

1) Why is Duncan Hunter still running?

2) I don't remember a debate where a crowd booed so often.

3) Does Anderson Cooper remind anyone else of David Duchovny?

  • I just kept thinking, "Are these guys running for the 'Asshole of the Year' award?" I know their base eats this stuff up, but there's nary a crumb of a conscience, a hint of humility, nor a dab of decency among them. (Though I'm still wrestling with Huck, who -- politics and policy aside -- I just cant bring myself to loath on a personal level)

Do these guys represent the best of America? Let's hope not.

  • I don't like Huckabee because he carries a smugness that rubs me the wrong way. He has this self satisfied smile that gets to me.

More broadly, that's what the Republican party has devolved to. They have no positive anything to run on anymore.

But, Hate and fear can win elections.

  • I think I know what you're talking about re: Huck smugness.... Though expressed differently, I find the same with Clinton.

It's funny to hear the Repub raise the specter of the Third Reich when they are the ones with the fascist policies. Are "illegal aliens" their "dirty Jews?"

    Also...

Coopers' mannerisms and vocal intonations remind me of Duchovny.

Did you see the question from the "gun nut?" As with the "gun rights" questioner from the Dem YouTube debate, he seemed to personify all that is scary about Second Amendment Fundamentalists. For the record, I'm a gun owner myself.

  • Cliton's smugness is a little different. It seems more of a dismissive arrogance to me.

With Huckabee he delivers a line and then smiles that smile.

And, I'm mixed on guns. I know people who love their guns and are perfectly responsible. I knew a couple of guys awhile back that collected assault rifles, and they were both very responsible.

But I do believe in some sort of background screening, because not everyone is that responsible.

I think the problem is that some of the loudest complainers about gun restrictions are loud because they suffer some degree of paranoia or inadequacy so their gun position comes from a deeper issue of identity which makes them seem crazy.

I don't have a problem with machine guns if they're in stable hands.
