Huckabee as a candidate
Stray thought. If by some fluke Mike Huckabee were to win the GOP nomination, I would argue that he might be the hardest to tie to Bush in the general election.

I've written about Huck before, so you know that I think he has the potential to be a contender. The man has a huge likability index (a measure I just made up).
As a group the American electorate is superficial. We vote for people we feel comfortable with. All the talk of policies and positions is just foreplay. In the end, we vote with our emotions, not our reason.
Huck's hurdle will be getting the GOP nomination. If he tones down the Paster in Chief rhetoric, I think he'd be a strong contender in the general. He's like Gomer Pyle's smarter brother.

I agree on you statement that we vote emotion/impression/likeability, but I wonder if Huckabee can hold those up for that long.
We're yet to see much of him for long exposure or under real heat.
(Also, at this point, he seems very weak on national security, but against Obama who has a similar lack, that wouldn't matter as much.)
And, I get Gomer Pyle flashes off him too. Not when he speaks, but in the occasional photo.
