Condi Rice
Condi Rice has been removed from diplomacy on Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and North Korea with various special envoys and subordinates taking up the slack.
The one diplomatic item that was left for her was the middle east peace process, and that is going so poorly, success is now being measured as to who shows up.

And, the AP tells us that the US is just now sending out invitations for a conference that was originally scheduled for next Monday.
Oy vey.

Israel and the Palestinians received the first invitations Tuesday to a U.S.-sponsored conference launching new Mideast peace talks, and the United States has told dozens of other nations and organizations to expect invitations soon....
The United States has not laid out an agenda, nor publicly said when the meeting will take place and exactly who will attend.
Oy vey.

Actually, this is Rice's trademark strategy. The other parties are expected to do all of the preparatory work, with Rice being a "facilitator". Since neither the PA nor Israel have agreed to anything or even established a framework of issues to iron out, it should turn out to be a shouting match.

Yeah. I mean, there's no agenda, no agreement on a basic statement afterwards. The legitimacy of the thing is dwindling.

I read in the Boston Globe today (http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2007/11/20/the_failed_marriage_broker/") that Rice's wheel-spinning diplomacy has spawned a new Hebrew verb, based on her first name: lecondel, meaning "to come and go for meetings that produce few results."
I've been to a few of those meetings myself, but peace in the Middle East was never at stake. ;-)

Have you ever noticed that no one ever converts your name into common language for doing something good?
