The inevitability behemoth rolls on
Just a few days ago, the press had started to turn on Hillary Clinton, but one pumped up fundraising report and some new polling trending her way, and the press is once again gaga.
(I think it's a statement on how we conduct politics that the media shift comes, not because of some major speech or policy statement, but because of "horserace" factors.
She introduced a health plan and got kicked around for how she laughed. She raised a bunch of money and suddenly the press loves her.
This is how we pick our leaders.)

I think that one virtue to the Iowa an New Hampshire contests has been the retail politics necessary there has countered "inevitability" imprimatur of corporate media. Voters in these early contests take their responsibilities very seriously.

EPM, I agree. I'm a big believer in forcing retail politics on the front end. It's tough because there's no perfect demographic fit, but I do believe in putting the candidates through these close up primaries.
If nothing else, it keeps the early deciding states from being solely about TV ads.
