Big numbers
In one of the packages yesterday on CNN, they reported that the US now claims there are 70,000 Iraqis registered as "concerned citizens" (the euphemism for the US supported militias/tribal/ neighborhood groups that work outside the Interior Ministry.)
No breakdown of Sunni/Shia.

That's a big enough force to control Kirkuk.

Technically, that's bigger than the estimates of the Mahdi, although it's all impossible to tell.
