The Syria/nuke hype continues
With no corroborating information at all, the NYTimes runs a web front page article covering the "debate" over whether Syria has a nuclear program.
No evidence at all, but it's a "debate."

That seems like a fairly reasonable article to me. AEI are going to have to try a bit harder if they want a more heated 'debate'.

It's balanced in how it covers it, but why is it in prominent placement since there's nothing yet there?
It's existence and placement gives a sense of viability to an argument that thus far has no legs.

True. But you'll have to ask the editor. Obviously somebody wants it front and center.

Meanwhile, the Arab states in the IAEA asked for inspections of Israel's nuclear programme. Israel is refusing, based on the "current Middle East tensions". Nobody is covering that, though.
I'm deeply suspicious about prominence being given to anything from the AEI, who was wrong about everything involving Iraq.
Likewise, Pakistan has nukes and refuses to sign the NPT, but we're apparently okay with that, even though Pakistan is engaged in a long-term conflict with India and is a military dictatorship. No IAEA inspections are needed there, though.

India gets off scot free, too, except they get US technology and assistance on top.
