Seriously. Is she working on North Korea? Iran? Iraq? Afghanistan?
No. She's staging "middle east peace talks" which have already been broadly deemed a failure and a showpiece.
The "key allies" Saudi, Pakistan, Britain, mostly work around her through Cheney, Hadley, or Gates.
Mainly, she's just hanging around Washington. (I mean, what is she doing here? How does this fold into the Sec. State job?)

Later: Adm. Fallon is touring the Sunni Gulf States trying to line up support against Iran.
Later: (AFP) "Pope Benedict XVI refused to meet US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in August, saying he was on holiday, an Italian newspaper reported Wednesday.
Rice "made it known to the Vatican that she absolutely had to meet the pope" to boost her diplomatic "credit" ahead of a trip to the Middle East....."

Ms. Rice just said the US will always support the 'innocent' Palestinians, but not Hamas. I guess she missed the bit where Hamas got elected.

And, how dare the children to be born there? They should've known they were being born in Hamas territory.

Strange woman. She seems highly intelligent but she has no problem with all the obvious contradictions. I suppose she's just echoing the lines they give her.

My opinion.
I think she is really smart and qualified to do theory/policy but not very good socially (graduating Stanford young and all of that.)
She doesn't come across as strong, and after having been undermined by Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Bush himself, she has no real negotiating crdibility.
She delivers messages, but if anyone wants a deal or a decision, they work around her.

That sounds about right. She's being used...but does she really believe what she's saying? Bottom line is she can't publicly disagree with Bush or Cheneyt.
