More vulnerable to terrorist attacks
I feel like I've already written too much this morning, but I have to mention this from the WaPo.
That's some pretty serious news.
(Reading everything today, I guess we can gather that Congress is back from its vacation, eh?)
Hobbled by inadequate funding, unclear priorities, continuing reorganizations and the absence of an overarching strategy, the Department of Homeland Security is failing to achieve its mission of preventing and responding to terrorist attacks or natural disasters, according to a comprehensive report by the Government Accountability Office.
That's some pretty serious news.

The paper's full of governmental failures today. Plane flies across U.S. laden with nukes; GAO slams Bush for global warming inaction; GAO slams Homeland Security for...being Homeland Security; deputy inspector general for Iraq reconstruction slams rebuilding effort and staff.
Surely I'm even missing some.
Oh, and check out Joe Klein's column, in which he steals your revelation that Crocker's -- not Petraeus' -- report will be the watershed.

It's pretty unbelievable how incompetently this government is being run.
The only effective part of the government were the political operations of Karl Rove, the rest is chaos.
And, Crocker's report will not get the same press simply because it hasn't been hyped, but yeah.
