One Quick Aside
I know a large number of people were quite unhappy that the new Democratic Congress ended up funding the war in the last round of the Iraq debate, (they didn't have to votes to stop the war,) but I do want to point out that this round of "benchmark" reporting that is fuelling today's Iraq debate is solely due to Democrats being in control of Congress.
There would not be this July report, or the September report, without the Dems in control and that has set fixed debate points to keep returning the Iraq debate and pressure.
It was a decent play with the votes they had.

Americans' frustration with Congress is due in large part to their ignorance of how their government works. The senate Dems can do NOTHING without the support of at 10 Repubs. So while the Repubs are throwing sand in the machinery of government -- aiding and abetting corruption and incompetences without conscience -- it's the Dems that are catching the flack.

Definitely. I just thought that needed to be said.
There was alot of anger over their "caving" on the funding bill a couple months ago, but they didn't have the votes, but they did craft in this Senator Warner (Republican) measure that forces these focal points every two months.
