Republican Debate shame.
Certainly the lowlight was Tommy Thompson sanctioning job discrimination against gays, but I was also shocked that three of ten of them raised their hands saying they didn't believe in evolution.
I couldn't catch which three, but that's unbelievable.
(And didn't McCain seem old, confused, and incoherent at points?)
(Update: MadMustard says it was Brownback, Tancredo, and Huckabee who don't believe in evolution.)

According to Crooks and Liars the three were: Brownback, Tancredo and Huckabee.
I agree about McCain, he was out of it.

Thanks, I updated and credited you.
And, I don't know if it was the first answer from McCain, but there was a very early one on Iraq and terrorism where he wanted to appear tough, but seemed to be getting lost.

Of all the Repubs, Huckabee was the one I at least respected. That ended. Denying science is not an act of faith, it's an act of weak character. We already have a president who is incapable of questioning his own conclusions in the light of science, reality and prudence. We don't need another clown who is willing to march this country over a cliff because of there intransigent belief in their own infallible "faith."
You wanna win souls? Get a church. You wanna lead a country? Get your head screwed on right.
This just hit a nerve with me today. I've frickin had it with people who think they inerrantly know the will of God and would do it upon me for my own good.

Yeah, me too, and I was a little let down.
Huckabee had actually stoked a little hope in me for the religious republicans in that he's using a message of compassion towards the poor, but now hearing him fleshed out, I realize that's all window dressing.

In New Hampshire this weekend, Huckabee dismissed his disbelief in evolution as being irrelevant to the presidency. I couldn't disagree more. It shows that he's willing to dismiss reason and evidence in favor of mythic beliefs. I'm hard pressed to find a stronger disqualifier for the job of "Leader of the Free World."

Evolution is a theory. They have not proved it in a test tube or in the field. It could promote the same kind of bias of an aryan race or the survival of the "fittest". Or Might not Right. Or The end justifies the means... A belief in Science is another type of religion that is also dehumanizing. I think that the "Religious Right" are imposters and they don't know God's will anymore than they know God himself. If there were one religion on the earth Satan would grab it and lead the sheep blindly. Maybe this is what you are witnessing in America already!!
Pathetic.
