Political bits - Giuliani, Wolfowitz, and Hagel, Oh my.
(WSJ) The Giuliani camp is trying to frame up how they can win without the social conservatives. (I'd love to see the polling that spawned this spin.) The social conservatives seem to be saying, "not so much."
(Personally, I don't see the divorces, even the messy one, as that politically objectionable, but the strangement from his own son is a whole different kettle of fish.)
ABCBlotter is reporting "Wolfowitz to Resign This Afternoon?" (Does it count as reporting if there's a question mark?)
The WSJblog seems to have a better (no question mark) report, "Wolfowitz is now negotiating over the conditions of his resignation..."
(TPM) Chuck Hagel states unequivically that "Alberto Gonzales should resign now."

It's not the two Rudy divorces that are objectionable - it's the infidelities that preceded the divorces - especially the schtupping of Judi Nathan in Gracie Mansion while his second wife Donna Hanover and his kids were home.

I agree that's what will bother the "conservatives."
That statement was just my own personal opinion.
Maybe Giuliani should be trying to save his relationship with his son rather than running for president. You know?

Giuliani's message is something like this:
"We can live with the insecurity of an uncertain living hell brought on by terrorists, or we can live with the security of the certainty of a living hell into which I will lead this country. We will be in the driver's seat of death and destruction, not idle peace-mongers trying to stave off war."
Crowd applauds as a jack-booted Giuliani gives a snap salute that has a discomforting resemblance to the outstretched, palm down, arm of another historic leader.
Giuliani is selling "security." Actually, he's selling war and aggression as a means to security. He offers nothing to a country that IS secure. Therefore, like Bush, his only means to "greatness" is to stand on top of chaos.

Wolfie resign? I'll believe it when I see it. Dogs like this need to be shot (metaphorically speaking)... they don't simply go lie down.

Yeah, Giuliani is selling attitude and nothing else. His Sunni Shia response at the last debate was all over the place. His complete denial of Ron Paul's point that Al Qaeda blossomed off of US policies.
His insistance that Al Qaeda is crazy and repetition of the idea that Sunnis want a caliphate.
He is either lying for votes or dangerously misinformed.
And I think Wolfowitz will go. The Bush administration has been checkmated in X moves on this one. It's just a question of how long they play til they see it.

Wolfie may go, but he will force the board to show him the door, with security in tow carrying a cardboard box containing his personal things from the office. Wolfie has gone past resigning to spend more time with his family, or to pursue a challenging offer from the private sector.
I know it superficial and shallow on my part, but Wolfie strikes me as kind of a creepy weirdo... even in the context of BushCo. I think he saves soap slivers and rubber bands form the mail just to save a nickel. And I think he surfs the web for fetish-porn. OK. I went to far. But really... the dude creeps me out.

I agree with the creepo. I went to one of the freaky smart engineering/science Universities and met a bunch of people like him.
Freaky smart but with a whole lot of weirdo side effects.

I worked with a multi-talented, extremely smart engineer from Yale -- a real Renaissance man -- who dressed up as a wizard and played live action fantasy role playing games.
He could design a functioning computer from paper clips, raw silicon, and some choice pickings from a compost heap, but the dude was out there, man. Nice guy though.
