Picture of the Day

Imagine if this was your day, every day, working with shortages of everything but wounded.

At any time, you could be killed for treating the wrong patient, and your family is a target for kidnapping because you are perceived to have money.

And, this is your day, every day.

  • I can't even imagine. It's an impossible life we've given them.

    Great picture, very traumatic.

  • CV,My mind often boggles at how many of these moments there are every day, and I just see the half dozen or so that take place in front of photographers.

Graeme, I often think about that.

Some are staying because they have relatives that won't leave, but the doctors can all afford to get out, and alot of them haven't.

They have chosen to stay in to help their countrymen who desperately need doctors.

    That is a hero.

  • The mistake you're all making is assuming that Iraqis are people just like us. Obviously they're not. Otherwise, how in hell could we have done this to them?

  • Abi, way back in like 2005 there was an article that talked about the compensation the US offered for dmages to property and death.

If I remember right, a dead relative was worth about $5000.

The US doesn't do that anymore, by the way.
