Rattled, Tired?
Read or watch Bush's press appearance after today's "consultation" at the Pentagon. His speech is broken into a series of oddly connected short phrases with long pauses.
I tried to read it first and it barely made sense to me.
(He's hoarse, too, so they were talking alot.)

Just as in the rush up to the war in Iraq, Bush is again trying to fix the facts to match his predetermined decisions. When the "experts" he's "listening" to give opinions different than his own, he sends the back to rethink their opinions. Listening, for Bush, is more an effort to uncover like minded individuals, not assimilate new ideas.
It must be getting harder and harder to find people willing to hook there personal and professional integrity to the Captain Ahab's wagon.

Yeah, Tony SNow said as much obliquely in yesterday's press conference that the President was sending his staff back to find answers that are "satisfactory to him."

Oy! I also picked up on some language over the past several weeks regarding our desire for a self-governing Iraq. The qualifier "appropriate" creeps into the official language: as in helping Iraqi's come to an "appropriate" resolution. Seems Iraq is a sovereign state only when it's convenient. Otherwise it's an American lab experiment.
"Appropriate" might not be THE word. Listen also for "acceptable" and/or "correct," etc. All euphemisms for we're open to all resolutions as long as they meet our dictates.

I haven't noticed appropriate, but now that you mention it, I have heard acceptable.
