Political Bits

Did you know that our President has declared this "National Character Counts" week?

Rawstory speaks of rumors of a Democratic October Surprise.

McCain was conspicuously absent from the torture bill signing today.

Have the Republicans already given up on 12 seats?

Pat Robertson distancing from Republicans?

Maybe it's this election or maybe it's that the 2008 favorites are McCain, Giuliani, and Mormon Romney. Hardly the evangelicals dream ticket.

And, reading the political news, I'm shocked at how many more Republican seats are being sucked into risk each day.

  • What, no televised, photo-op, signing ceremony; with all his Republican buddies huddled around him to get a ceremony pen!!!

  • Sorry, I changed the post to a catchall.

But, if they were to take all the Republicans under investigation/iindictment to that signing, they'd have to take several minivans.

  • McCain, Giuliani, and Mormon Romney

Mit Romney is in my neck of the woods (I'm in NH, he's gov of MA). Of the three, he is most in the mold of Bush. That is to say he is more dedicated to his own self image of rightness than to science, honest facts or real political discourse. He's as smug as Bush, but he's much, much more intelligent in worldly affairs.

    I don't like him.

  • I know next to nothing about hime except that he's the most palatable to "the base", but how much of a hard sell will a mormon be to the evangelicals?

They may like him, they may vote for him, but I don't think he'll generate the bizarre adulation and fervor that gave Bush so much "ground power."
