Lieberman

I'm really trying not to talk about this, but Lieberman is such a trainwreck, he's making that impossible.
Senator Joseph I. Lieberman seized on the terror arrests in Britain today to attack his Democratic rival, Ned Lamont, saying that Mr. Lamont’s goals for ending the war in Iraq would constitute a “victory” for the extremists who are accused of plotting to blow up airliners traveling between Britain and the United States.

As he waited til today, I'm guessing he's in the second circulation of the Republican talking points. (Did Rove call again?)

Just go away, Joe. You lost. I know feel a need to "clear your name," but you're not helping yourself, and you're not helping your party. Let it go.

Related: Larry Sabato projects 5 probable Senate pickups for the Dems. They need six. Tennessee, Arizona, or Virginia would be needed. Still a long way to go though, so leave those chickens uncounted for now.

  • Joe Lieberman replaces Donrumsfeld as head of DOD.

    What do you think?

  • I know it's been floating around for awhile, but at this point, why would the Repubs want to take him out of the race? He's changed the storyline away from Bush's failures. He's of far more use to them where he is.

Also, if he took it, he'd be a complete idiot because, much like Colin Powell, he would be the guy outside "the club."

If the Repubs were going to make this move, I think it would've been in their interests to make it first of the year, to leave a gaping hole in that race before there ever was a Lamont.

In my thinking, it just doesn't make sense for anybody right now.

My hope is that someone will offer him an overpaid think tank/lobbying job. But the problem is, he doesn't carry the value he did on Monday, so it'll have to be charity.

Maybe that's his plan, to make as much noise as he can to blackmail the Dems into buying him off.

Unfortunately, I don't believe that. I think he's taken this whole thing personally, and wants to prove to (who?) that he has been mischaracterized. It seems like some sort of weird psychological drive at this point.

  • Lieberman is determined to self-destruct. I wonder if he's pointing out that the issue are almost orthogonal.

    Sheeesh.

  • I'm beginning to genuinely think that he feels cheated. That somehow he was misportrayed and that if only the voters could really see him.....

But what he doesn't understand is just how separated he is. I just hope his condition can be remedied before he really damages the Dems.

(The pressure is being applied publicly; I assume privately as well.)

  • Is this sort of politically schizoid behavior common? I don't remember anything in recent member where someone had so much support from the GOP, besides that nutjob Zel Miller.

At least Lieberman's vested in the pension program and has free health care for life. That's more than the 'little goyims' can say.

  • I forgot about Zell. You just gave me tomorrow's picture of the day.

There's some personal psychodrama going on with Lieberman. There must be.
