Does a president who is enacting widely popular programs end up feuding with the press? On Iraq coverage? The economy? Leaks?

Its a shuddering thought, and I hope in no way synonomous, but Lincoln had a running battle with the press.
Time stood by Lincoln, although he was pilloried during his incumbency.
I don't see history standing by Bush.
