Run, Al, Run
I have been unabashed in my wish to see Al Gore run for President in 2008, and articles like this, give me heart.
All the pieces are in place, contacts, fundraising, national profile, signature issues, a seeming goodwill among the party faithful. The only real complication is how do the Dems resolve the Hillary Clinton situation. (Sorry, Marisa)

You'all might find this interesting ... as good a summary of Hillary as I've seen:

It would be encouraging to see a real challenge emerge to the Hillary push.
I find the unsettling feelings about Clinton difficult to get a handle on. It's certainly not gender, perhaps that she is undefined in so many vital aspects.
The prospect of installing a ready made set of potential scandals, into the white House, doesn't really inspire either.

I have been unabashed to see him run for president again, and then lose again to his Republican opponent, so that we can once again here the liberals whine that "The Republicans cheated on the elections."
Come on! He even lost in his HOME STATE, how much worse is that?
What on earth is Al Gore up to, besides gaining weight?

C'mon anonymous, he won the freakin popular vote, and lost Florida and the national election under some contention.
Honetly, at the time, I was talking about Gore losing his home state as well, but frankly, 5 years of the Bush administration, Gore looks a whole lot better.
And, if Giuliani were the Repub candidate in 2008, you would expect him to lose his homestate of NY, would you hold that against Giuliani? Would you rather have sellout McCain who is now completely compromising his principles working with the same people who spread the illegitimate black baby charges in SC? And, I mean those people specifically, not in some gereic sense.
And, Greyhair, that blogpost is pretty close. I think one of the things that rankles me about Hillary Clinton is a feeling of raw ambition. I feel(emphasize that it's a feeling) that she is more interested in achieving the presidency for her own motivations rather than for any particular agenda.
There's a rawness of aggression for power crossed with an expectation, or sense of entitlement, of power that I find very offputting.
And, Cartledge, honestly, she had a 6 year colonoscopy from the Ken Starr investigation. I sincerely doudt there are any more scandals. We would have the revival of some of the old charges, but if Ken Starr didn't find it, I doubt there's anything more there.
The real issue I think is her negatives. There are a significant number of people in this country including lots of independents who have been so poisoned on her, they would never vote for her.

I still want to know: where was THIS Gore in 2000?
By QuakerDave, at 2:24 PM
I know, Dave. I absolutely hated the 2000 Al Gore who talked to me so slowly like I was stupid. I agreed with his positions, but just found him so annoyingly condescending.
Now, he has the same positions but is speaking to us like adults. I like this al gore and I still agree with his positions.
I hope that whoever runs, they chase out the traditional Dem consultants.
