I read Helen Thomas' autobiography when I was in high school. I was looking for any book in my school library that was about the Watergate era and the only thing they had was the Thomas book. But I ejoyed the book immensely and have been a fan ever since. In fact, one of my proudest moments was writing her an email and getting a response. It's not every day that you get to communicate with a great reporter who has covered every administration since Kennedy's.
I value her as a hero as well, not because she was a groundbreaking female reporter, but because she is fearless.
And, I think the early experiences of sexism she must've had to endure in the sixties and seventies have earned her the right to be the onery individual she is now.
This is not the America I was brought up to believe in.
This blog seeks to highlight abuse of power, deception, corruption, and just plain bad ideas in government and corporations.
