Newsweek poll on the NSA phone records
Newsweek has a new poll on the NSA's phone database. (Pointer from Reality Based Educator.)
According to the latest NEWSWEEK poll, 53 percent of Americans think the NSA’s surveillance program “goes too far in invading people’s privacy,” while 41 percent see it as a necessary tool to combat terrorism. This stands in pretty strong contrast to the WaPo "flash poll" that showed majority support on Friday morning. That poll seemed to establish a general consensus from which the arguments flowed, but it was riddled with some pretty critical flaws. I had my own criticisms, but Greyhair pointed to a much more comprehensive Glenn Greenwald piece.

The media is decidedly not liberal. We know that. But they are doing a (relatively) good job of framing this issue so far. That should not work in the Bush Administraton's favor. And the whistleblower guy (who is right out of central casting, btw, have you ever seen him talk?) hasn't even let out the big story yet.

Tice, yeah, he's pretty good. I also like Drumheller. And, I really like Paul Pillar although he is kind of twitchy.
