No more tonight.

I made all kinds of notes on the SOTU. I had all kinds of things to say, then...

I just watched the Dem response with Tim Kaine. I don't know who chose him or why. I don't know why it wasn't Obama or Gore or....

I give up.

  • Saw some of that myself. What the.... Why wasn't it someone with some FIRE? It was painful. You could drive a truck through Bush's speech, and they chose a guy who made it exciting to watch em unload the truck down at JC Penny's. I would rather watch grass grow.

  • I know, Kaine was forced, Kaine was artificial, it was awful. And Bush did largely blow it.

It was a huge opportunity for the dems to contrast smart thinking, honesty, passion and real optimism. Instead I got some yahoo running who sounded like he was running for his first city council seat.

At least the coverage of Bush wasn't fawning. We'll have to wait and see how the great Republican media machine kicks in on this one.

It just kills me. It plays into every negative stereotype of dems.

  • Now now! The presentation outright sucked, and he needs more grooming and smoothing- but I thought he made some good points in a pretty short period of time contrasted to the usual wimpy response. I thought the delivery could use some work, but that the dem writing exceeded my expectations.

Now I am not a dem or a republicon, and would like to toss them all out. Hell'I'd prefer government by chimpanzees at this point.

But I think the criticism that democrats think 'everything sucks no matter what' is bearing out a tad here. Was it stellar, perfect? no. Had it been Gore, people would have said "Why did they resurrect the bitter sourpuss to drone?" (not that I agree, I happen to be a Gore fan-) but the point is, we on the left would have shredded ANYTHING.
We have to talk about the points, and considering the Dems are so often accused of inefficiency and message ambiguity, I think the dorky references to 'service' and accountability were at least a toddler step in the right direction.

    Thank you.
(I'm Kaine and I approve this message)
