Grand Rapids is one of the hardest core Republican areas in the state. Still, more people turned up in the summer of '08 to see candidate Barack Obama give a speech.
I'm hearing right-wing radio pooh-poohing the AP's fact-correcting of Palin's book. They're even ignoring the fact-correcting being done by members of the McCain campaign.
Mike, the Metropolitan Grand Rapids area is on track to surpass Detroit as the most populous area in the state. Which doesn't mean much, since Detroit is on the fast track to becoming a ghost town... 1500 isn't even one percent.
This is not the America I was brought up to believe in.
This blog seeks to highlight abuse of power, deception, corruption, and just plain bad ideas in government and corporations.

With no intended humor... Are these the same folks who would line up for the "Rapture" if Palin said God told here it would be today at 5:00?

Also I think a lot of these people feel that they are on a religious mission as well as political mission.

Lew, She's only "touring" hard core Republican places, but yeah. I get your point.
(And I don't know the population of the area, but 1500 or whatever seems like a pretty small percentage.)
.....
Anon, I think they're conflated.

How shitty can your life be if the most important thing going for you is that you'll be taken to heaven and everyone else will suffer?

Anon, Of course they are. It's truly a reinforcing alternate universe of people who want to "believe" the same way. Facts be damned.
