Grand Rapids is one of the hardest core Republican areas in the state. Still, more people turned up in the summer of '08 to see candidate Barack Obama give a speech.

(And I don't know the population of the area, but 1500 or whatever seems like a pretty small percentage.)

I'm hearing right-wing radio pooh-poohing the AP's fact-correcting of Palin's book.
They're even ignoring the fact-correcting being done by members of the McCain campaign.

the Metropolitan Grand Rapids area is on track to surpass Detroit as the most populous area in the state. Which doesn't mean much, since Detroit is on the fast track to becoming a ghost town...
1500 isn't even one percent.
