Another tragedy in Afghanistan

Two American soldiers disappeared in western Afghanistan after a routine resupply mission, and more than 25 NATO and Afghan security forces members have been wounded during the search mission for them, the alliance said.

  • I see the UN is threatening to withdraw support. What a bizarre situation.

  • I agree. I just can't get a handle on all the moving parts on Afghanistan.

  • That's the point. Best synopsis I read was by a retired colonel, who allowed the place never was a nation, but a variety of people speaking different languages and with different cultures : all traditional enemies.
It would be worse than the diversity of warring tribes in the American West : which the 'tactics' of today remind me of completely, complete with ripping off the 'defence' budget( funny style for wars of conquest ) and forts ; plus technological superiority.
Quite the circus for Air America to recap its drug-running ways with opium...which is the only thing of value in a 'country' created by British cartographers cutting off nomads from their seasonal pastures.
Try steering around on Google Earth to get an idea of how badly the place is cut up by mountain ranges. Since the people in the valleys were cut off, that's why they didn't know each other.
