I've never really grasped it until this year but A LOT of Americans are extremely sentimental and would think nothing of using this coupon thinking that they WERE making a difference.
I think savants and a few college educated folks don't 'get' how superstitious, irrational and down right crazy a large section of the population, I think Marx called them the "lumpen proletariat", are simple-minded and one-dimensional.
Some of them are good but I've found a large segment of them to be some what dangerous since they have zero coping skills and the world is a very scary place.
These coupons fit into that simple, sentimental mind-set.
That's a great comment. I really have nothing to add. I agree.
(Plus, a really good incidental point. I was just looking at this as a "How could Burger King do it?". I never thought about the people who actually turned the coupon in.)
This is not the America I was brought up to believe in.
This blog seeks to highlight abuse of power, deception, corruption, and just plain bad ideas in government and corporations.
