Another story underneath - The bad news week
The Obama administration doesn't seem to be using the traditional Friday dump to hide their bad news. Their current preferred tactic appears to be hide a bad news story underneath a larger, more likely to be talked about "big story."
Today's example: Renominating Bernanke for the Fed overriding the bad deficit news.
I don't know if this will continue or will just be a feature of Obama's vacation, but this late August period may be where they dump the worst of it.

Is it my imagination or are you getting a little disillusioned with Obama?

A little, but not too much.
Really this is more of a process observation. It's just a different way of doing things.
Before I call disillusioned, I want to wait and see what the September push looks like.
After August, they'll try to reclaim the narrative with a big push and I think that will probably change the media tide.
They don't act quickly in that bunch. They respond to problems with consideration and longer than normal political planning. They'll probably have Sept/Oct mapped.
So, I'm not really off the bus yet. It's just been a little tough to watch the August slaparound.
