Pat Buchanan's klan robe is showing.

Rachel Maddow reveals Pat Buchanan's racism. There's this quote,
White people were 100% of the people who wrote the Constitution, 100% of the people who wrote the Declaration of Independence...the Country was built by white folks.

But more importantly, she pins down his position that white people are smarter and more capable than minorities. He pulls out the US track team being all black and maintains that the Supreme Court should be all white (because only white people are the intellectual top?)

It may be time for Pat to go. NBC will have to make a decision.

The Buchanan segment starts at about 5 minutes.

  • Like his generational and cultural peers in the Senate, Buchanan is as oblivious to institutional WASP affirmative action as his is to the role of blacks and other minorities in the building of this country. He and his brethren truly have a vision of America that is based on the notion of racial purity.

Pat would feel right at home in America c 1900... Ironically, if he were transported to that time he'd find that White America would look down on him as a lazy, drunken, Irish papist in the same way he looks down on underachieving, unqualified, token Hispanics.

  • I almost can't even consider the 'Constitution being written 100% by White folks' comment racist. It's so dumb that its hard to think of it in any other context but complete stupidity as part of a 'this country was built by White folks argument..." Why does anyone give Buchanan a platform to speak...?

  • he is a coward. if he said this on a street corner or HS lunchroom - he'd get his teeth knocked down his throat -- deservedly so. instead, he props himself up as a GOP intellectual (maybe he is -- from a GOP perspective) and talks his trash. hopefully Rachel gave him just enough rope... he really would be a perfect character in a Coen Bros movie...

  • I don't normally do the "media pundi said what?" post, but this one seemed extreme, and it's from a guy who has used a substantial number softer racist and sexist slurs before.

This is a guy who was intimately involved in developing the racist "southern strategy" fopr Nixon which turned the Republican party into the southern party of bigotry that it is today.

I did this post because I wanted to help publicize this intellectual atrocity. For years I've wanted to see him gone, and hopefully this will be the rope.

The most disgusting thing to me was the "US track team" parallel as the clear implication is that no one but whites can intellectually compete. It was a moment where his racism clearly showed through.
