And Iowa guarantees a far right 2012 caucus winner....
The Iowa Supreme Court issued a unanimous ruling Friday finding that the state's same-sex marriage ban violates the constitutional rights of gay and lesbian couples, making Iowa the third state where gay marriage is legal.
(Look for Huckabee to quickly insert himself. He's been targeting Iowa and SC "social conservatives" for the last 6 months.)

I think Huckabee looks at Pat Robertson's second place finish in the 1988 caucus and thinks, "I'll get'em this time".
Iowa's fundie population was in the ascendancy then, there's still a ton of them around but they're not in the large urban centers so they're more of a nuisance than an actual force.
This gay marriage thing is just something for the TV and radio people to flap their jaws about. It's a wedge issue and a moneymaker for both parties.

Well, Huckabee made mistakes in his early campaign by taking rational, more inclusive, and more socially conscious (help the poor) positions early on, and still did pretty well.
He's definitely not going to make that mistake again. He's going to go hard line straight down the crazy right's checklist.
