India demands
India demands that Pakistan "hand over fugitives," but....
The Pakistanis respond with a call for a "joint investigation" and seem hesitant to turn over the figures named by the Indians without more proof.
A list of about 20 names was handed over to the Pakistani envoy in the diplomatic protest....
...The fugitives are not believed to be linked directly to the latest attacks in Mumbai, and the request for their handover — made by India before — may be a sign that it is trying to take advantage of the atmosphere since the attacks to gain new concessions.

I'll feel much better when Clinton is SecState...
This Indo-Pakistan thing could spiral into one hell of a shit storm if it's not moderated. There's a lot of old baggage that's being piled on this Mumbai tragedy...

The one thing is that the Pakistanis are suspicious of the Clintons as a pair. Bill was tilted more towards India, and in Hillary's Senate time and pres run, remember all the Indian money she took in? "The Senator from Punjab?"

I didn't know this... I simply have the feeling that, regardless of campaign rhetoric, Clinton would be a strong, hopefully stabilizing, hand. Something the seemingly vapid (though well educated) Rice is incapable of providing.

I agree. I'm definitely a pro-Clinton appointment guy for a whole lot of reasons, and anybody you put up is likely to have a side that dislikes them in any of the major tensions. Pak/India or Israel/Palestine.
The key question is, can she go to both sides credibly, and, with the Clinton background, I think she can.
