More questions on McCain's "straw man" donations
The NYTimes extends the possible "straw man" donations story this morning, apparently finding a whole raft of middle class and poor Jordanians willing to donate over the max to the McCain campaign.
No hard evidence of anything illegal yet, but it sure does smell funny.
The curious thing is, these may not be "straw man" donations. But, then, what sort of relationships or pressure are getting these people to donate way out of their income league for a candidate they don't like when many of them don't even vote.
This is weird......

Abdullah Makhlouf, the owner of a discount stereo store who is one of Mr. Abdullah’s closest friends, and his wife contributed $9,200.“He’s like a worse copy than Bush,” Mr. Makhlouf said of Mr. McCain.
When a reporter initially contacted Mr. Makhlouf, he denied giving to the McCain campaign.

“This is the horse I’m betting on for the future,” Mr. Abdullah said.

Well, from the news today about the Iraqis settling on a timeline, it won't make any direct difference.

I don't expect defence spending to come down under Obama...just get shuffled around some. Hopefully the military gas bill will come down.

Yeah. Probably a shift more towards soldiers and services and away from big ticket contractor subsidizing weapons systems.
