Georgia has about 17,000 troops according to Jane's. I would imagine the ones in Iraq were well trained and equipped. Pulling them out may partly be a way of pressuring Bush to act against Russia.

Yeah, but it came too late. They didn't start pulling out until days after the Russians moved.
And, thanks for the 17,000 number. (That's less than the police force in Houston.)
