Picture of the Day

Kaine as VP? Really?

I guess the question should be, is this WaPo frontpager a true "rumor story" or is it a trial balloon?

Other names rumored to be in serious contention, Bayh, Biden, Sebelius.

When Webb pulled out, I was rooting for Sen. Jack Reed.

  • I thought it was Harvey Korman at first glance.

  • The only exposure I've had with him is when he did the (State of the Union?) rebuttal to the president, and it was pretty weak.

In my mind, I've always referred to him as governor weird eyebrows.

But, those who have had more exposure speak pretty glowingly about the guy, so I guess we have to wait and see.

  • I, too, know little to nothing about the man; save that State of the Union response.

As VA gov. I wonder if it's the Bubba-vote they hope to attract... or at least now completely turn away. I'm sure he's a great guy, but as far as national recognition goes...? Then again, maybe that's the point too. To not overshadow the nominee.

Think about the Republican scuttlebutt. If Romney gets the nod, does HE look more presidential than Crusty McCain? The Repubs run the risk of making their shrinking candidate look even smaller if they pick the "wrong" nominee. Wow.

  • Part of it's bubba.

One of the things attributed to Kaine in the past was a Democrat with the ability to reach evangelical voters.

As for national recognition, pretty much any Dem that's not in the Senate would have that problem to some degree.

    Have to wait and see.

As for McCain, who knows? Whoa are his choices? Pretty much it's regional/less known (Pawlenty, Portman) or Romney.

And with McCain hearing the eternal footman, I don't think he can pick anyone less than presidential even accepting your valid image points.

  • If Mcgrumpy picks Natalie Portman I am voting for him!

  • That's pretty funny.

That'd probably get him the attention he's craving, though.

  • Yeah... That won't draw attention to his age! HA!
